Cancellations, Arrival & Dismissal

CANCELLATION OF SCHOOL SESSIONS

  1. It in the event that school is canceled or dismissed early because of inclement weather or other reasons, announcements will be made on WTIC (1080 AM radio) or WVIT (Channel 30).  Parents, however, should also call the school’s voicemail (press #6), or log on to our web-site sigelacademy.org for up to the minute information.  You may also get up to the minute closure information on at ctweather.com
  1. Early Dismissal Due to Hazardous Driving Weather – if poor weather conditions develop during school hours, the Hebrew Academy administration will be in close contact with the Weather Bureau and will determine whether early dismissal is necessary.

It will not be possible to give advance notice in such cases. However, if the weather appears threatening, parents are asked to assume that there may be an early dismissal and should arrange to have someone at home to receive the student/students.

SCHOOL DAY ARRIVAL

  1. Children in grades 5-8 who arrive in the school building at 8:00 A.M. should wait in the designated corridor. Children in grades 1-4 will be directed to the Gym for opening ceremonies. Students grades 5 and up will be directed to their lockers at 8:10 A.M.
  2. Please make it clear to your child that no pushing, shoving, running or shouting will be permitted in lines or in the halls at any time.
  3. Children in Kindergarten should proceed directly to their room

PARKING AT ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL

Arrival

Children should enter the building at arrival, through the main entrance. Parents should park their vehicles and escort their children on foot to the entrance of school. Parents are only permitted to drop off their children at the entrance if they meet the following requirements:

  1. Drop-off must be only on the right side. Parents are not permitted to leave their car, or open any doors on the driver’s side of their vehicle.
  2. Drop-off must be quick so that other cars who are following are not held up by the procedure.
  3. Parents must sign the “Parking Policy” statement, found on page 26 of the parent handbook and return it to the office.

Dismissal

When picking up, do not wait in the fire lane in front of the school. Parents must park their car/van in the various parking slots, and escort their children back to their cars,

Teachers and Administration will be posted at dismissal to maintain order. Please drive slowly at all times when proceeding to the parking lot and leaving the campus. Please be careful.
